The Complex Systems Institute at Ghent University, Belgium (www.csi.ugent.be), is willing to support one or more applications for the EU Marie-Curie Individual post-doctoral Fellowship. These fellowships are very interesting and consequently very competitive. The call is open to European and non-European researchers with a PhD willing to develop post-doctoral research in Europe. Deadline is September 2020. For more information regarding the Marie-Curie action at Ghent Universiy, see: www.ugent.be/en/research/funding/postdoc/msca-if.htm

If you have a strong profile and a project in mind, do not hesitate to contact our team. We are willing to support applications related to our research on complex systems, network and data science, agent-based models, statistical physics, and computational and mathematical modelling, applied to social, economic, and health problems. We are particularly interested to expand our expertise in data science and machine learning, though data-driven research is not a restriction!

Note that this ad is for those researchers willing to have the Complex Systems Institute at Ghent University as host for the Marie-Curie fellowship application. It is not a general call for Marie Curie fellowship application.

In particular, Ghent University has an internal programme and will support and train strong candidates to maximise the changes of success in this EU fellowship application. Selected candidates will be invited for a 4-5 days training at Ghent University and will receive administrative support to prepare the proposal. You will also have time for one-to-one discussions with our team and particularly with your promoter, who will also support the application. Expenses, including travel and hotel, will be paid by Ghent University. We will apply internally together with the selected candidate(s). See: https://www.ugent.be/en/research/funding/postdoc/msca-masterclass.htm

- Completed (or about to complete) PhD in relevant disciplines, e.g. Physics, Applied Math, Economics, Engineering, Computer Sciences. Strong candidates with other quantitative backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

- Realistic data-driven or theoretical Research Proposal in topics of relevance to CSI (www.csi.ugent.be)

Deadline for this pre-selection: 30.03.2020 or until a suitable candidate is selected.

The Complex Systems Institute at Ghent University is an interdepartmental research group mainly based in the Department of Economics and the Department of Physics and Astronomy. We currently have 3 professors, 2 post-doctoral researchers, 3 PhD students, and 3 master students. We are expanding quickly and more professors and researchers are expected to join during 2020. We frequently organise scientific events, summer schools, and have a number of international partnerships.

Ghent University is among the top global universities according to several international rankings. Furthermore, Ghent is a charming medieval Flemish town, filled with canals, full of energy, history, culture, and wonderful gastronomy.
