Offer Description

We are offering a contract for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Neurosciences or related disciplines. The candidate will join our dynamic Neurodegenerative Diseases Group at the Department of Neurosciences, Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute, and will focus on the identification and characterization of new pathological mechanisms in Neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD), as part of the IKUR-Neurobiociencias 2025-2026 project: "NB1. Neuromotortherapy. Searching multitarget therapies against TDP-43 dysfunction in Familial Frontotemporal Dementia and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis."

The project will tackle the pathology from multiple fronts, using in vivo and in vitro approaches, including Drosophila melanogaster animal models, and advancing to neurons differentiated from pluripotent stem cells derived from ALS/FTD patients. The goal is to unravel and modulate the underlying pathological mechanisms through innovative therapeutic strategies. In addition to testing new, potentially effective therapeutic treatments, the researcher will generate and characterize different gene-silencing and overexpression models in both in vivo and in vitro settings to deeply explore and understand these disease mechanisms.

The selected candidate will work with cutting-edge techniques in cell and molecular biology, as well as advanced imaging technologies, in a world-class research environment. The researcher will contribute actively to the group's objectives and will also have the opportunity and support to develop independent projects that expand and strengthen our ALS/FTD research line.

Position Location: Biogipuzkoa Health Research Institute (San Sebastián).
