Support for Dual career couples (DCC) at the universities
The Swiss federal equal opportunity of women and men at the universities programme is a cooperation project in the course of the federal administration’s policy for the promotion of education, research and innovation (ERI) published by the state secretariat for education and research (SER). The federal parliament agreed upon the proposed action plan and allocated a budget for 4 Mio CHF/year. The programme started in 2000 and will end in 2011. It consists of three Modules. In the third programme period, the Module 3, "Work-life programme" also includes measures and financial support (1.2 Mio CHF) for dual career couples (DCC). All 10 Swiss universities, some in collaboration, have established locally adapted DCC-commitments in order to reach the main goal of the programme, the increase of the proportion of female professors from 14% up to 25% by the year 2012.
